For me the Suitcase is shown in a negative light, no pun intended. with the lighting, having the case sitting open and then having light come in and hit it from the side. in my mind it sets up a story of the suitcase being open and someone throwing clothes into it as though they are going on a sad journey, perhaps they are leaving a loved one after a fight. or maybe just going on a long journey that will make them miss the person that they are leaving behind. The blue overlay really adds to this somber feeling that the image creates, the color while vibrant still caries a subtle tone that creates the somber mood I spoke of before.
the mode of transmission for this in my opinion is presentational. it uses its color and light to develop a mood much like the mona lisa in the reading uses her trademark facial features to set said mood.
the noise of the image has a great deal of effect on the way that its read. if i were to remove the color overlay and only have the black and white image to look at the one could be completely different. the story that i'm imagining could possibly go from that somber tale, to a tale of a new beginning making it go from the negative that i'm reading now to a positive.
